Jacob Sam-La Rose

Jacob Sam-La  Rose is a published poet, with work that's been translated into four other languages, and a collection that's studied on an A' Level syllabus. Beyond his own creative output, his work as an artistic director, editor and educator has focused on young people, teachers, emerging artists and anyone else who might benefit from an investment in creative expression. Among other projects over the past 20 years, Jacob has been responsible for Shake the Dust (one of England's largest youth poetry slam and poetry-in-education CPD initiatives to date), the Spoken Word Education programme (post-graduate accreditation for poet-educators), and 12 Poets for 2012 (a National Lottery poetry competition that selected 12 poets from around the country to collaboratively author an olympic poem). At present, he is a poetry professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, poet-in-residence for English Heritage, and directs the Barbican Young Poets programme.
